Hi! I’m Paulica Santos, an illustrator, visual artist, and graphic designer based in São Paulo, Brazil.
For over 20 years, I’ve been turning concepts into visual stories. My work celebrates Afro-Brazilian culture, ancestry, childhood, and Latin American and Caribbean identities. Through vibrant colors and affection, my creative process simply aims to ensure that diverse voices and faces are seen with respect and beauty.
My path spans editorial illustration, visual identities, branding, and cultural campaigns. I’ve had the joy of illustrating several children's books, including Nós de Axé, O Mundo Black Power de Tayó, and the international title Grandma, Cho Cho and Me (Groundwood Books). One of my favorite milestones was seeing my art occupy public spaces when an illustration I made became a permanent mosaic at Pedra do Sal in Rio de Janeiro, a historical landmark of Black culture.
Working with watercolors, digital tools, or traditional handmade techniques, I just love bringing meaningful narratives to life. I’m always open to new collaborations, book commissions, or a friendly chat about creative projects: paulicasantos@gmail.com
